Bereavement support and burial assistance for families
HOPE Support Group
The HOPE Support Group of Healing Hearts provides free bereavement support to help families that have experienced perinatal and infant loss. The complimentary six-week program is held throughout the year on Monday evenings in private spaces at the Ronald McDonald House and is facilitated by a licensed grief counselor. Session dates will vary and at least four individuals must participate in order to schedule a six-week session. To participate in The HOPE Support Group, please complete the HOPE group interest form. Please contact email@example.com for an accessible version of the HOPE form.
For Brazos Valley families, RMHC CTX partners with certified bereavement counselors from Hospice Brazos Valley, and Mending Hearts Grief Center. Families will be referred to those organizations for services.
The HOPE Support Group is completely secular and not affiliated with any specific religion or faith.
Since 1993, RMHC CTX has helped families who have lost children due to illness or injury. Suffering the loss of a child is a devastating sorrow. At times, families faced with this tragic loss do not have the financial means to cover the cost of properly interring their child. Through our Healing Hearts program, families are provided burial assistance to help ease the financial burden.
For more information on burial assistance funds on behalf of families, contact a hospital social worker or chaplain where the child was receiving treatment. If the child passed at home, please contact the local police department’s victim services representative for information on the application process. For more information about Healing Hearts, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Honoring the Lives of Children in our Memory Garden
To honor the life of the child, RMHC CTX presents families who have stayed at the Ronald McDonald House and Ronald McDonald Family Rooms or who have participated in the bereavement support group with an engraved river rock to be placed in the memory gardens at the Ronald McDonald House in Austin and at the Rose Garden at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in College Station, Texas. Families are welcome to visit their child’s stone at both locations. We are deeply grateful to Carved Stone, Inc. for engraving and donating the memory garden stones for our families.
