17 May A HOUSE ROOTED IN HOPE: Built with love and sustained by you!
When Leyliana’s son, Raul, was born, everything seemed perfect—until she noticed he wasn’t meeting key developmental milestones. After dozens of doctor’s appointments and round after round of testing, Raul was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, and he was referred to specialists in Austin. Leyliana did everything she could for her son to receive a diagnosis and get the treatment he desperately needed – a journey that brought her to our Ronald McDonald House in Austin. This year, Raul bravely underwent a life-changing spinal surgery called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) – a crucial step toward improving his mobility and bringing him closer to his dream of walking. While navigating the challenges of an extended hospital stay far from home, Leyliana and her family found comfort, support, and community at the Ronald McDonald House.

“We’ve even started calling it ‘our house,’ and it doesn’t feel like we’re interrupting our kids’ lives. They’ve made it feel like home.”
Leyliana, Raul, and his two siblings arrived in Austin, hundreds of miles away from their home, uncertain of what the future would hold. From the moment they arrived at the Ronald McDonald House, we did our best to wrap them in love and support.
“They’re not just here because it’s a job – they genuinely care about helping people. They always ask, ‘How can I help you?’ or ‘Is there anything you need?’ The staff really seems happy to be here.”
Every night, our Ronald McDonald House provides a home away from home for families like Leyliana’s with seriously ill or injured children – providing comfort, support, and hope when they need it most. Your support helps ensure they never face these challenges alone. Together, we can make healing happen for families like Leyliana and Raul.
